Jubilee Pilgrimage to Assisi & Rome - Led by Bishop William Crean

Day 1 (Sept 25th)

Depart Cork and arrive in Rome Airport (time to be advised). On arrival in Rome, meet with our tour escort and transfer by private coach to Santa Maria Degli Angeli Assisi where we will check into our hotel where we will stay for 3 nights. Dinner and overnight.

Following breakfast, we will visit Upper Assisi. We will have a walking tour of the main sights of the medieval town of Assisi. We will visit the impressive thirteenth century Basilica of St. Francis, the mother church of the Franciscan order. We will also visit the Basilica of St Clare, foundress of the Order of the poor Clare’s. Dinner and overnight.

Today we will be visiting Cascia. We will also visit Roccaporena (if weather permitting), birthplace of St Rita. Return to Assisi for dinner and overnight.

Following breakfast, we depart for Rome. We will stop enroute for lunch. Check in our hotel. Overnight.

After breakfast, we will have guided tour of St Peter’s Basilica. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon we will have a walking tour of Rome, visiting the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona.

After Breakfast, we will make our way to St Peter’s Square to attend the Papal Audience. (Depending on the Pope’s schedule). Free time for lunch. Afternoon free for optional activities.

Day 7 (Oct 1st)

After breakfast we will visit St Paul’s Outside the Walls. This magnificent Basilica was once the largest in the world. The sarcophagus of St Paul is now visible since the 2008 excavations. In the afternoon, visit St John Lateran Basilica and Holy Door and St Mary Major’s Basilica and Holy Door.

Day 8 (Oct 2nd)

Following breakfast, depart by Coach to Rome Airport for flight back to Cork
