Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, is a stylish and futuristic city with a melting pot of cultures and a harmonious fusion of East and West. KL, as it’s fondly referred to, can be reached within approximately 45 minutes by car from the International Airport and in general is an easy city for tourists to get around with its light rail transport system. Overall, it enjoys a tropical climate so warm and sunny usually but watch out for those rain showers which are more prone in rainy season (October to March).
An urban jungle with skyscrapers rising high into the sky including the global icon of the Petronas Towers. At 88 stories tall this mega structure presides majestically over the city and beneath the towers you can find some of Malaysia’s best shopping spots from designer boutiques to the latest trendy fashions, KL is indeed a shopper’s paradise boasting 3 of the world’s largest malls so always a bargain to be had. The Golden Triangle is KL’s entertainment hotspot with bars, restaurants and nightclubs aplenty with many of the world’s largest hotel chains found within the city and near this area.
Less than one hour's flight from Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi is one of Malaysia's premier beach resorts, ideal for travellers looking for a relaxing beach paradise holiday with beautiful hotels and resorts in tropical surroundings. Langkawi enjoys fairly consistent temperatures thus making it a year round destination. Rainy season is generally considered to be September through to November with the tropical showers often coming at night time. As with tropical showers generally they don’t tend to last long and are often welcomed as a means of cooling down!
Should you venture out of your hotel resort, a trip around the island will see you take in small traditional villages with wooden houses and paddy fields. Why not take the cable car to the summit of Mount Mat Cincang, the view is not to be missed?! The island offers 3 championship 18-hole golf courses and it also has an excellent range of water sports to choose from; diving, snorkeling, jet skiing and parasailing to name but a few. Perhaps you might enjoy an excursion to one of its many nature parks, or enjoy a boat tour where you can explore other islands and deserted beaches at your leisure.
It should also be pointed out that Langkawi is a duty free island so shoppers are sure to pick up a bargain or two! Langkawi makes for a great combination with a stopover in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s bustling cosmopolitan capital city.
