If you are looking for an authentic Mediterranean experience, this is an option for you. Two equally wonderful areas, both with subtle differences that will almost give you the complete Croatian experience: the laid-back ambience of the Island of Korcula and the bustling city life of Dubrovnik.
You will be amazed by the beautiful setting of Korcula Town, the birthplace of the famous explorer and travel-writer Marco Polo. This 'mini Dubrovnik' can satisfy the expectations and interests of any guest. Those with cultural, gastronomic, and active interests will delight in the multitude of charms on offer: Korkyra Baroque Festival, wind and kite surfing in Viganj on the Peljesac Peninsula, Marco Polo Festival, and Lumbarda fishermen's nights.
After a few days spent in Korcula, you will be transferred to undoubtedly the most spectacular place on the Dalmatian coast - the Old Town of Dubrovnik. Unique in its charm, it very much encapsulates all the wonders of Croatia that we aim to convey: history, style, sophistication, character, and beauty. Dubrovnik leaves thousands of visitors who walk along its marble streets every day speechless, gazing, and gasping. You can choose from a variety of different trips, from sightseeing in Dubrovnik to visiting the nearby countries of Montenegro or Bosnia & Herzegovina. Regardless of whether you are visiting this amazing place for the first time or the hundredth, the sense of admiration never fades.
Island of Korcula - Dalmatian Islands
Korcula is one of the largest and most attractive of Croatia's islands with 195 unspoiled coves and beaches, lush upland valleys and extensive vineyards. The temperature climate delivers an average of 3000 hours of sunshine each year and sustains an abundance of lush aromatic Mediterranean plants. If its a sun holiday or a break to unwind the Island of Korcula is the remedy.
The old Town of Korcula with its rich historical architecture of medieval squares, churches and palaces has earned it a nickname 'Little Dubrovnik'. This quaint, walled town with its harbour and ancient treasures offers lovely walks, many sports facilities, a good selection of bars and seafood restaurants, organised excursions and a rich cultural life and entertainment programs. Cultural events of 'Moreska' and 'Kumpanija' have become world famous and attract more tourists year after year.
Dubrovnik is situated to the southernmost part of the Croatia, its flagship attraction Dubrovnik Old city itself is a priceless pearl, a UNESCO World Heritage site on the south shores of the Adriatic Sea. It boasts a perfect climate, awe-inspiring natural beauties, rich historical heritage, and diverse tourist offering, Dubrovnik is without doubt the most treasured and most frequently visited destination of the Dubrovnik Riviera.
Dubrovnik's tempestuous past dates all the way back to ancient times which has wrote a history filled with thrilling adventures, legends and battles. Throughout the middle ages the walled city state thrived through extensive trade with other maritime ports such as Genoa, Pisa and Venice. So notorious at the time for its wealth, education, art and architecture it became the envy of Venice and its Republic. Every aspect of it past helped build and forge the spectacular city we see today, it is no wonder it was chosen by HBO's series 'Game of Thrones' for one of its filming location.
For those more interested in the typical sun holiday - spending the day sun bathing and swimming over viewing the historical sights of the 'Old Town', there are many areas inside the old town which have access to the sea, and just outside the city walls the 'Banje' beach offers the sun worshipper the perfect haven. The Lapad Peninsula, approximately three and a half kilometres to the west of Dubrovnik's Old Town, is dotted with pleasant beaches, bars, cafes, restaurants and the majority of hotels in Dubrovnik.
Dubrovnik doesn't lose any of its brilliance at night. There are numerous restaurants, nightclubs and cocktail bars to choose from. For those in the mood for a relaxed night out, there is a rich offering of restaurants, ranging from pizza to fine dining venues. It is highly recommended to try the seafood dishes when in Dubrovnik, just like all of Croatia but if fish is not your thing a wood fire beef steak will not be hard to find, but hard to forget.
